Our Platform
Our platform is built on the foundations of community, empowerment, activism, and a hope that never fades. I am dedicated to creating a lasting change for Southfield residents and advocating for a future where everyone has a voice.
-
Established a Table for People with Disabilities: Ensuring that individuals with disabilities have a direct line to city council, enabling them to voice concerns, propose solutions, and collaborated on policies that affect their daily lives.
Better Access to Public Meetings: Advocate for the creation of more accessible public meetings, including virtual access that community members can participate in and be heard!
-
Senior Centers Improvements: Invest in upgrades to our senior community center, making it a hub for socialization, health, and recreation. This includes adding more senior friendly amenities and ensuring that it is accessible to all seniors, regardless of their physical abilities.
Proposal for Senior Rooms: Working with seniors to design a dedicated space within our community that meets their needs — quiet rooms, wellness space, and community gathering areas.
Community Use of Schools: Collaborate with local schools to create opportunities for residents — especially seniors — to use school facilities for events, classes and social activities, fostering greater Community Connection.
-
Fighting Gun Violence: Being a strong advocate in Lansing at the capital for policies and funding that reduce gun violence, improve community policies and support community led safety initiatives.
Rental Protection: Fighting for stronger tenant protections — including rent control — to ensure affordable housing is accessible for all residents and prevents displacement in our neighborhoods.
-
Working on Septic Tank & Sewer Solutions: Partnering with residents to address issues related to septic tanks and sewers to ensure safe, sustainable solutions that do not burden communities with unnecessary costs.
City Ordinance Updates: Advocate for the revision of city ordinances to be more in line with the needs and realities of today's residents. This includes re-examining zoning laws, public health regulations, and housing policies to better reflect the diversity of our community.
-
“Infinite Hope”, Fighting for the Residents: My activism is rooted in a vision of “Infinite Hope”. I believe in fighting for the needs of our residents, ensuring that no one is left behind and that every community member has the support and resources they deserve to thrive.
Collaboration with Local Stakeholders: Working directly with schools, local organizations, and residents to craft policies that reflect our shared values of compassion, equity, and justice.
-
Build an Indoor All Year Around Swimming Pool: 8 lane pool, with another 6 lanes for exercise class, with a walk-in pool level for little kids to play in. This would also provide access for those with disabilities.
This building could: house 4 community rooms, swimming pool (non-existent), ice skating rink (existing), and a small kitchen.
